1. What is 5G?

5G is the next generation wireless network, featuring ultra-fast mobile broadband speeds with multiple Gbps, massive connectivity, critical communication and very low latency. Our goal is to address the various issues that have developed due to the wide popularity of 4G LTE, including the need for higher speeds and lower latency. 5G will provide fiber like service experience to VIVA users, while enabling new digital services to emerge such as AR/VR immersive experience, cloud gaming, autonomous drone, driverless cars, and a wide range of IoT uses.

2. What will 5G be capable of?

5G technology will allow customers to download a full-length feature movie in a matter of seconds. The fifth generation could offer speeds in multiples of the 4G speed range.

Besides faster movie downloads, the higher speeds of 5G networking will provide the kind of low latency needed to run demanding virtual reality apps on standalone headsets.

You'll also have quicker access to documents, photos, gaming and files in the cloud.

3. Will existing customers be eligible for 5G?

Yes, all VIVA’s subscribers are eligible to enjoy 5G services.

4. Will 5G network support voice and internet plans?

Yes, the 5G network will support voice and internet plans, depending on device capability.

5. Will my current device support 5G technology?

No. You will have to buy a new device (5G router or 5G smartphone) from VIVA enabled with 5G plans to enjoy the 5G technology.

6. What is the difference between 5G and 4G? Is 5G faster than 4G?

5G is designed to offer higher speed and lower latency as compared to 4G.

7. How do I check to see if 5G network is available in my area and how do I sign up for the service?

55G is currently available in most of the districts in Kuwait. Check out the 5G coverage area section on our website (viva.com.kw) to find out if your areas is 5G enabled. You can order your VIVA 5G plan by visiting the VIVA E-store or your nearest VIVA branch.

9. Can I enjoy 5G service with my current VIVA plans?

No, you have to subscribe to 5G plans to get the benefits of 5G technology.

9.Will I face any disruptions with 5G signal in the basement of my residence?

Wireless signals tend to be weak in basement in general, so you can expect disruptions with your signal in the basement, this isn’t related to 5G specifically.

10.I live in a tower, will I face issues with signal because of the number of floors?

Some customers may experience slower speed on higher floors, (from 6th floor on) this is due to signal getting weaker the higher up you go,making it harder for you to enjoy high speeds.
